No, decided I need to remove the transmission and engine as one piece, its going to be near impossible to remove the engine separately.

Kind of stuck at that right now

OK . . . am kinda confused now due to sooooo long of a post.

You parked the car 18 -24 months ago. At the time you shut it down, it worked just fine and the engine seemed good.

Now you are convinced you need to rebuild your engine, or get a good used one? I can't find when you found something that indicated your engine needed a rebuild, and how does that happen within a two-year period of not using the car????

Just confused.

Okay, you've got it kind of backwards:

Previous owner parked the car for 18-24 months, he SAYS it ran good when parked (I'm highly doubting this now).

It wouldn't start there, I got it to start at my house, its hard to start, and when it does smokes EXTREMELY heavily, and there is a heavy rod knock.

Basically, I got lied to, and since I have to pull the engine anyways to access the crank, I am just replacing said engine with a good running one.

I know the feeling of being bruised trying to get a motor in, skin off a few knuckles & a bit of blood loss. Putting things back on now feels like an eternity, there is always something else or the thing you just bolted up has to come off because you needed to do some other thing first. Perseverance is your friend !!

Good Luck !!!
