96 e300-no cruise control after stop light switch change

I just recently changed my stop light switch after the the abs/ets and electronic traction support warning lights came on. At that time i also lost my cruise control. After the change the warning lights are out but the cruise control wouldn't engage at any speed. I thought the loss of cruise control was related to the stop light switch going bad- but now that it is fixed the problem still remains.Has anyone come across that problem? My cruise control stalk was changed about 30,000 miles ago.

Remove battery cable

Sometimes this can reset the computer, won't hurt to try.If it worked before, can't see why it isn't now.Hope it works.

I'm guessing but are there two switches on the brake pedal: one for the brakes and one for the cruise?

Did you tug backward on the pedal at any time during the repair?

No i didn't. the switch itself was halfway clicked in when i pulled it out-so i just clicked the new one in halfway before i placed it back.
