I came across this 83 240D looking at salvage cars. Does this belong to anyone on the forum in Georgia?

She took it hard.

Kinda impressive that it could take a hit like that without breaking the glass.

My uncle sold Mercedes Benz back back in the 60s 70s 80s. I am not sure about the years, but he retired from sales manager of a socal dealer in the early 80's I know that much.

Anyway, my point is, he used to rave about thier safety, and would tell me how they could be wrecked like that yet you could still open the doors. Well this is an amazing example and, not that I doubted him, confirms his stories.

Hmm, interesting, my '83 is from a dealer in Santa Barbara. Maybe he could have handled papers on a dealer trade or something. Surely the odds are good he had something to do with someone on this boards car...

Cut off the body at the back window. Install plywood back to the car, screw on some lights, continue driving.

Actually, I revise my plan. Looks like if you cut off the body, the trunk lid might actually fold down and become the new 'back of the car'.

I'd be interested in seeing if the "real leather" is in fact just MB tex, its fooled people before, and leather in w123s is not too common IIRC
