1968 W110 200D up for consideration...
Howdy, kind folks. It's been a while, and my 240D manual -> 300D conversion is resting comfortably and in top shape!
I don't know much about W110's, butI'm considering buying a 1968 200D that looks/sounds to be in great shape. The photos show no rust, it's been repainted, all the rubber is reportedly intact, save the weatherstripping (big $$, I know). It's supposed to be very smooth, start right up and not smoke on the open road. Trouble is, they claim it'll only make 55mph. They suggest there's a governor on the 'carb'. Obviously not W-Hunters.... Is it possible that the fuel delivery adjustment that I've read about on the IP is maladjusted, resulting in the low top speed? Any other insights on possible reasons, dire or benign, would be welcome! Also, any clue what a straight, clean, good interior 200D is worth? Thanks a ton! Best wishes. Ash
