Vancouver Pick n Pull - Brown 126 interior

I saw on the online inventory that Vancouver had added an 87 420SEL the other day, so I went up last Sunday to see about finally getting my rear window. This thing had obviously been sitting for some time by the algae growing on it, but the window was excellent, and the gasket was half rotten, so it made for an easy pull.

Anyway, I meant to mention it on Monday, but I forgot - if anyone is after the dark brown interior (I don't know what MB calls it - I'd call it chocolate) this would be a good one. The back seat looked excellent, the front was a mix - one good backrest, one good bottom. Also all the door panels and so on were good. Oh, it also had a super pimp old school car phone, but my hands were full.

If anyone in the northern VA/DC area is interested, Today I saw a W126 5-cylinder 300SD in the Pull-A-Part located in Stafford VA - about 35 miles south of Washington DC. Car looked mostly complete & beautifull with shiny lightblue metallic paint. I often wonder why such a nice-looking car winds up like this, while ones I see for sale are too-often such pieces of crap!

Happy Motoring, Mark

Oh, I forgot the pic of the sweet mod I saw to this acura:

Thats right kids, don't let your engine's airflow needs interfere with your need for hillbilly customization! Wonder why this was in the scrap yard huh? The worst part is that it wasn't even cut out well - looks like a rat chewed it out.

Up here in the Mt Airy Crazy Rays I've been told that cars will drive in and get junked. A 1983 240D with a 4 speed drove in the day before I saw it, I asked and they told me it was illegal to buy the whole car. Something about they can't sell the frame.

once it gets in the yard, they file a Certificate of Destruction. nothing with a vin stamp on it can ever be sold again and put on a vehicle as the vin is no longer Viable. how it works here anyways

Some salvage-places do offer vehicles for sale BEFORE they get in the yard. The Virginia Beach Pick-N-Pull does, and many years ago I bought an Audi Wagon from a Norhern Virginia yard that way.
I wasn't suggesting trying to buy that 300SD. Just commenting on how nice it looked for a junker. Figure it might have had too many miles and/or a bad tranny. But yesterday I was looking for a couple items for a W123 and of course, none were to be found there!

Oh I know, the 240D I mentioned was definitely one I would buy and drive. It was just in too good condition to be driven to a PnP and junked. Almost no rust, the interior was good besides the driver's seat and the engine bay was clean enough to eat out of. I just can't figure out why it was junked.
