Talking ROFL, they took my ticket away

I went for a test drive with a yellow 200D owner this morning..

Coming out of a construction zone a local officer pulls us over.

Slips up and pokes his gun in the window ordering me out..

Cuffed me and pulled my wallet, explaining that I was going to be ticketed and arrested for reckless endangerment, aggressive driving, evading arrest and speeding 95+ MPH through multiple construction zones...

As he walked up to get the 200D owner, a fugly old yellow domestic POS blasted past followed by multiple police units..

The officer jumped back to me whipped the cuffs off, said sorry as he dived into his car and burned rubber..

I explained everything to the 200D owner, and I think he is still laughing...

You're lucky. In Denver you'd have been dead within moments.

Kerry - your cops get trained in Seattle! Shoot first, ask questions later.

I wouldn't be amused at all with a mistake of that magnitude and cuffs being put on me.

On Tuesday I got pulled over in my Buick Roadmaster with the officer claiming I was going 78 in a 55. I had my cruise set at 60 the entire time and cars were screaming past me. I tried explaining this to him, but he got his radar gun and said he couldn't be wrong talking about the distance readings and such. He was kind enough to take some of the speed off to where it wasn't in the super high bracket, probably because of the genuine shock I was displaying over the whole thing, but I'm still very angry over an undeserved $160 ticket. Happened in Colorado on my way home so I can't really go to a judge and fight it.

Another in Arizona ticketed me three years for going 80 in a 75, which is what my cruise was set at. He actually said I was going 81, but if he ticketed me for 81 it would be a misdemeanor violation because of some law there saying anything over 80 is reckless driving (even though it was 6 over the posted speed limit) and I would have a court date.

We have a town in south east Tennessee(Benton) that has been know for many years for giving out-of-towners tickets. The speed limit went for 55 to 35. At the 35 sign is where they would clock you. Supposedly they get most their revenue for the town from their speed trap. I've had 2 tickets there, one a few years back and one many years ago. My dad and my uncle also got a tickets there.

The income from ticketing speeders on I-16 provides over a million dollars a year to our rural community. It is the biggest industry in the county, one that the Sheriff brags about. I will say that you have to be going 85+ (in a 70) to get stopped for speeding.

Call us uncivilized in Texas but, here there is a state law that caps the annual revenue a town/city can generate from speeding fines. IIRC, it's based on a percentage of the city's total revenue.

Silly me. Of course, that law doesn't limit the ticketing, just the revenue retained by a city.

I'm too literal sometimes

^^^I wonder how the Texa's comptroller's office funnels a share of the excess back to the municipality? State grants to buy new police cars?
