Alda Removal

On my 91 350SD I'm in the process of changeing the shut down valve and replacing the intake manifold gasket. So far so good. The manifold is off and the three prong electrical switch is disconnected. Now all I need do is remove the alda. I looked at the DYI threads and am doing everything they say. Have a 27mm wrench on the big nut turning clockwise and a honking big channel lock on the alda turning counter clockwise. I can get the alda to move but can't seem the break loose the 27mm nut. Right now it's soaking in PB lubricant. Everyone else on this form do not to have a problem with removal. Am I doing somthing wrong or is there a trick. This has been a very frustrating progect. Help please.:(

Usually, once the ALDA has been broken free of its retirement position (can be rotated) then it's a simple matter of rotating the nut clockwise. Sounds like the nut-to-IP metal interface is ceased/bonded so keep up the ointments.

But I also find an "impact" helps better than long hard pulls on a wrench. So get the wrench on the nut (forget about the ALDA for a moment), and just give that wrench a sharp quick rap with a hammer in the direction you need it to go. It should break free, or break your IP.

Unlikely that the big channel locks will fit on the ALDA flats without interfering with the nut.

Get a proper wrench for the ALDA that fits the flats.........25mm IIRC..........and position the two wrenches so you can squeeze them together with one hand. The ALDA will immediately break free of the nut.

Keep the alda you'll want it later :) or ship it to me i know a 617 that really wants it.
