If it's a concern, why don't you let an oven stabilize at 250°F and then put the remains of the old seal in and see how it behaves.

Good day
sort of
As I prepared to install the balancer I recalled a video done by Kent where on a seal install
he had a hole on the upper pan caused by the timing chain slack as it came around the crankshaft. The chain wore right through the aluminum upper pan, causing a nice leak.
What would cause the excessive slack on the (right) side of the crank? Is there one link too many on that side?
I ordered some slow-set JB Weld to cover the hole. Clean thoroughly first, sand with 3M "Pro Grade" (that purple paper) and give an nice rough surface to engage the JB Weld, clean again, then apply and wait before thinking about balancer installation.
The loose chain is a concern, and so is the JB Weld. I need to correct the loose chain condition and get the hole welded shut and I will feel much better about it.

moon161 I have no concerns over the heat the seal will take from installing a hot balancer. Cooling with stong compressed air stream will keep the seal from ever raising a drop of sweat.

Cheers

Stan
