A/C Compressor
I really like the variable speed on the A/C fan in my car. (It speeds up and slows down according to interior temp).
Does anybody know if it also turns the A/C compressor on and off according to the car's interior temp? Thank you. |
The fan speed should be different from the temperature setting...
You are the best one to test this.... have someone look at the front center of your compressor while someone adjusts the dial.... |
I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure the "auto" function of the fan is just that, it automatically controls the fan based on cabin and interior temps but it has nothing to do with the AC compressor. What does control that is the function you have it set to. If set to economy, the compressor will not kick in. However, in all other functions it will - again according to the temperature differences.
So if its 40 degrees outside and you command a temp of 50, the compressor will probably not kick in since it will want to blend heat into the incoming air. But its 70 outside, it will kick it in. |
the only thing that controls the amount of cooling the compressor produces is the expansion valve and the engine RPM. The CCU sends a call for a/c and energizes the compressor, and unless the air temp drops below 33 or so degrees F, the compressor stays on.
