Anyone recommend a tranny shop in Phoenix az?

Hi,

I have a 83 300sd with tranny issues, all was well when one morning the transmission dropped down to first. It would shift to second but not for very long. Looking at other threads it looks like the seals are toast.

I stopped by quality transmission over in Tempe (highly recommended by my co-workers). They wouldn't work on it but recommended another place in which recommended a Mercedes only place in Phoenix. Anywho if anyone has any ideas or can recommend a good shop, I would appreciate it.

Sun Valley MB Transmissions

Just had mine rebuilt on Friday at Sun Valley MB in Burbank, CA area. Drove it out here (Phx) yesterday. Works great. These guys have a long positive reputation and can have a rebuilt trans shipped to you or your shop for probably less than a trans shop repair can rebuild yours.

Look them up www.mercedesdismantlers.com

Ask for the Mark, Owner and tell them Rob with the SDL sent you and see what he can do for you. You may get some sort of MB Club discount.

I watched the techs (old school) work and it was very cool.

Don't be nervous about the "Dismantler" part of the name. These guys are very well respected in the older benz circles.

Hey Guys,

Finally got the rebuild tranny put in. I have had it for a month setting by the car. My brother in law took all of five hours to do it. He said it was one of of the easier projects he had done.

I will hold onto the other tranny and rebuild now that I should have some time.

The rebuild was shifting kind of hard the first day Two days later and it has really smoothed out. Some vibration is gone now that the new parts for the driveshaft was replaced along with the tranny mount.

Looking for a 350 round trip either this week or next to figure out if I will take it up PCH in the next month or so. I will be off work for 9 weeks and will get two major trips in.
