Here are some pictures of my NEW 240D/300

This is the first time I have uploaded pictures here. I find it a difficult process but I think I got it. It is difficult to learn computer skills in your 70's!

Nice - and well done for uploading the pictures...

The only problem now is that I want to see a nice picture of the 3 gauges in your centre console!

Well it is pretty new to me cause I just got it on the road. I got it up here in central Indiana Thanksgiving of 2009 and it was in a lot of pieces. I pulled the 240D engine Christmas Break of 2009 and begin to scuttle my 85 300D Spring Break of 2010. It was really a lot of work for me and I will not do another (I don't think). It is really difficult for older people to work under the car and a lot of work had to be done there. Ten years ago with my old shop, I could have done the whole job in 2 weeks with time to spare Anyway, it drives as good as it looks, it is getting new lower ball joints and the three piece tie rod deal on Monday. But it is a jewel to drive, I love the straight thru hookup on the Turbo, gauge only then to the ALDA. Gauge shows a solid 10 PSI on the gauge, and in third and 4th with 10 lbs. boost, she really moves. Fuel usage so far shows to be excellent, and that is what I was looking for. The W124 5 speed was good, as good as the 300D with automatic, but diesel costs more or as much as the premium fuel required for the M103, and at 50 miles a day I wanted something better in mileage and a little easier to work on then the W124.

Army you can see my gauges on the last picture. Not real good, but you can see them just below the radio.

No, I am not doing the ball joint work. My good friend and indy PK has all the tools and a wonderful computerized alignment rack and when it is finished I know it will be letter perfect. I was going to have him go through the sliding sun roof, but I have changed my mind on that and will order new parts and do it myself at fall break. It works good, but is slow and needs a good cleaning and lube with "plumbers grease".

Autometer Z gauges are a close match to the factory VDO's in Style....I have a set in that location on my W116. I put a aftermarket cigarette lighter in my glove box for a GPS or other use since the original was no longer there.

Your car photographs up pretty nice.

Yeah....I've repainted my gauge needles so those are close. There at one time were VDO gauges that were closer...but they were unavailable at the time I got mine.

Its all personal choice....and mine was to locate some that looked like they MIGHT be OEM at a casual glance. That picture should be somewhere on this site....I put them up once upon a time a lot of years ago.

Well thanks Joe, it is about the same color as yours. I sure would like to try mine out in the mountains. I might just get it on a few hills this winter.
