Question Bench evaluation of an R4 A/C compressor

Is there any way to determine through inspection if an A/C compressor will work?

I have one from my donor engine - the system still had some charge in it but I dont know if the A/C worked before I pulled the engine. I didnt try it

Trying to decide whether to leave the existing AC compressor or swap in a rebuilt one now while its easier.

Thanks,
dd

I am not sure of your question..... I mean the FSM shows the compressor as a whole being tested on a bench... it is in the MB AC FSM...

I am working off the FSM CD - which breaks the articles in #'s. I think you have paper manuals, right?

For example, 'Reconditioning of the A/C Compressor' is 83-524. That # is at the top of the page.

Let me know the article #, and if its not on the CD, would you be kind enough to scan it?
