"83 TD SLS accumulator replacement

Just ordered new accumulators and would like to hear the voice of experience for tips on replacing them.
Thanks, Jacob

It's a pretty simple and straight forward job. It's one thats easy and results in a major difference.
You'll need a catch pan and a few wrenches. Remove the hoses from the accumulator. Let it drain. If they diaphragm inside isn't torn there won't be to much fluid, if they are then you'll get a quart or so of fluid out. Once the lines are off, remove the nuts holding the accumulator to the car. The put the new one on, re-attach the lines and fill the system. It's self bleeding so fill it up, then load it down a couple times to make sure you've gone through the whole motion of the rear, and top off if needed. When I did mine it might have taken me an hour.
Now if everything is rusty then all bets are off. Also make sure to be careful with the hydraulic lines they tend to be pretty tight and sometimes corroded.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds straight forward.
This is a beautiful Wagon, raised entirely in New Mexico (170k mi.), so I've never encountered corroded nuts n bolts.
