Atlanta MB meet....

OK, fellas, I'm going to try my hand at organizing a get-together in Atlanta, GA for all the MB-heads in this area. I'm sure Autowerks will be having a BIG throwdown when the new shop opens, but I'd like to go ahead and meet some fellow fans of German engineering, check out everybody's rides, trade tips, stories, bloopers, debate synthetic vs. dino oil......OK, maybe not that!

I was thinking of making it a diesel-only event, but I like gassers too, so any other MB owners are welcome to attend also, as long as you're "diesel-friendly"!!!

I'm also inviting people from a couple of MB mailing lists that I participate in, so there should be a pretty respectable turnout.

Details:

WHEN: Sunday, Feb. 3rd, 12 Noon until ???---whenever we all get bored.

WHERE: Atlanta, GA--midtown area. San Fransisco Coffee Shop, 1192 North Highland Ave.

DIRECTIONS: Mapquest directions

My roommate is co-owner of this location. There is a good-size parking lot behind the place, and if it gets too crowded, there's a big park right down the street where we can go. Otherwise, there will be plenty of coffee and munchies to keep our hands busy as we drool over each others' cars!

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we will have a nice mild sunny day.

Anyone in the Georgia area (or elsewhere) who plans to attend, please post here, or e-mail me, so we can know approx. how many to expect!

I look forward to meeting some fellow gearheads.

I've heard from a few others on Shop Forum, and some from other lists, but not many dieselers from here...anybody else up for hanging out for a while? Looks like the weather is going to be GREAT!

I'd love to put together a more organized event, but my schedule over the next couple of months or so is very much "up in the air", so I can't plan very far ahead right now.

Hey Mike,

I'm gonna try to make it over on Sunday. I'll be working that day around Briarcliff and Johnson Rd. So I should be able to sneak away for awhile.

Alright, Georgia MB heads...get up early and hose that car off, clean the brake dust off those alloys, throw out all those Burger King and Taco Bell bags, vacuum the crud off the carpets, and lets hang out! Plenty of coffee to be had to wake us all up!

I've heard from a few of you who plan on attending, so I hope to see all those people there, and hopefully some others.

So I have this problem with my CCU and get on the web today to find a forum for some help. So I find this site. Looks great. Registered. Posted my question.

Then start looking through the diesel section and find this post! THE MEETING IS TODAY!!!! Crap! Would have loved to be there. (even with my dash guts hanging out)

Keep me on the list, maybe next time!

Well, well, well........I'm browsing through the postings and notice the meeting which took place yesterday. I would love to have been there---and I know the midtown area like the back of my hand---I would have had no trouble finding it. I guess I need to browse the postings more often. Except my old '76 300D would have felt out of place with all those "new"diesels!

hehehe....Don't worry "late guys", we'll do it again soon. Keep you eye out for another post about it before long! We welcome new and old....I think the oldest car at this one was a black 78 300SD...Very nice! It would be great to get some real old timers at the next one....some Pontons or SLs!

I drove the green 1995 E320 because the only time it gets driven is on trips on weekends. It stays in the garage the majority of the time. Save the diesels for my daily driver.

I was there, Mark Winter. I wish I could say I drove my 300D but I "still haven't found what I'm looking for" so I drove my 212k Ford Festiva.
