722.118 kickdown solenoid condition - advice req'd (probably OK though!)

G'day Folks,
{Nearly done Rick - honest} Just a quick question about the condition of my 722.118 kick down solenoid. It worked before I took it to bits - famous last words I know - and there isn't really much to go wrong but it looks a bit strange on the inside. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about (part number 000 304 08 90) http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...1&d=1312973565 Now here's the yucky bit:- http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...1&d=1312973619 The white liner material which must be an insulator looks like it has been stained by a black sealant / glue which has been used underneath. This black stuff looks like it has melted out into the main (white) bore. Is this just from manufacture - or is it something due to use? I can't imagine that the kickdown solenoid gets all that hot... well it shouldn't do should it? http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...1&d=1312973875 I'm planning to reassemble with new 'O' rings and a bit of grease and just see how it goes. But just in case this is a sign of the end of life of this component I thought I'd ask here as well. |
I don't think the discoloration of the solenoid is going to affect it's performance.
