Yep and we were lucky, someone already removed the transmission for us. So we just had to remove the mounts and other misc hook ups and out she came. We didn't bring a engine hoist with us, so it would have been pretty hard pulling one with the pnp's lifter that had the transmission. We are lucky I have a friend in town with a hoist we can borrow.

Okay we spent from 10-9 yesterday getting the old engine out, parts switched and cleaned up. We will finish the install on wensday and see what other bugs my show themselves.
Neat things we noticed is that the transmssion has been rebuilt, with a new clutch, new ebrake cable, speedo cable and some front end bushings. All the bushings on the transmission linkage are gone, hints to why it is soooooo hard to get into gear. Anyone have a hint to how to press out the old metal rings? from the original bushings? I don't think this is a factory ac car, the bracket has bet cut to fit around the water pump, so we just kept this off and decided to remove the ac instead of repairing it. I don't think anything was ever done to the original engine, the nylon screen on the oil filter was clogged to hell. The air filter is clogged with pine needles and about 1/2inch of grime stuck to it. Still had the original breaded fuel in lines..spliced in many places..original power steering reservoir lines...and you couldn't even tell there was a red oel cap on the injection pump. Also looks like we'll need a new radiator, any idea where to get one? Going to see about recoreing it. Heres photos. old engine ![]() ![]() ![]() This is as far as we got last night....and yes my driveway is now ruined. ![]() Does anyone need anything from the old engine?

Nice work - I see you're putting in the hours - good job.
Post a picture of the shifter bushings you want to replace. My guess would be that you just buy them in one piece... but to be sure a picture would help...

Well the new motor is in and running but it seems a little rough. Going to check the valves this afternoon. It also has the original motor mounts and transmission mount...waiting on replacements and the engine shock is disconnected. Think its that problem or something else?

my 2 cents, the engine mounts and shock absorber will dampen a lot of that out.

If your old engine had a non EGR intake I'd love to just have the intake and air cleaner.
nevermind, yous is a w115. I need the w123 version.. but looks good! Also, did you spray Ether into the intake????? |

Only in the back of the truck to confirm it was working. After we stuck it in the car and primed a bit...it popped right off and has since. The engine already had the glow plug upgrade.
