What W126 model has the most detailed interior???

I've stumbled across some pics of some really nice 4 door W126 interiors in the past. They were AMG gassers. Substantially nicer than the blue interior that came in my 83SD. Eventually, I'd like to swap my entire interior out for a black, in new condition, fancier, more detailed and luxurious interior. Question is....What W126 model has the nicest interior???

Something like this.......but Ive seen much nicer..... minus the phone....

There were a lot of "styling houses" which would do up the interior like the one pictured. From the factory I'd venture the nicest ones we got here were the 1991 560SEC (or SEL with 4 person seating).

I guess the only difference there is the pleated door inserts, mahogany, and center console. I do really like the mahogany vs. the burlwood. I'd rather have tex seats too.

The reason I mentioned 1991 is because you could get an electric roller blind for the rear window for 91. Add that to the 89 interior refresh and I'd think that's the best possible factory look. Plus passenger airbags were more common for 91, so the dash is symmetrical.

Yes, the highest output V8s got Burlwood, the lesser models Zebra wood.

This was quite an eye-opener for me! I had no idea MB had such good looking insides. Time to shop around for sweet luxo-bomb. I like the SDL a bunch.

I would love an SDL, but I am pretty happy with the SEL. I would also love a wood steering wheel. The leather on mine is pitted. I am certain that someone had a cover on it, and like a bra for the front of a car it can actually do more damage than good.

I love my interior. the only thing I'd change is I would love to have some gen 2 coupe seats. Bolsters would be nice.
