I suspect barry's right -- vent problem. Going from low pressure to high pressure makes the lift pump have to work harder if the tank's not venting. If it happens again, try the cheap diagnostic -- opening the tank filler cap to relieve the pressure then putting it back on. If that immediately (temporarily) cures the problem, then its a venting problem.
