Sunroof stopped and will not move w124??

Hey Guys -I seached around and found a couple posts with the same issue but no responses/resolve.

So the sunroof was working fine in all directions. I go to close it today and it stops midway and will not do anything. All I hear is the relay next to the sunroof motor clicking one time for each direction I move it. I pulled the relay to inspect and even replaced it with one from a junk car - nothing still. All other electrics in car seem to be working fine

Checked the fuse, cleaned it and swapped it with another - still nothing.

Any ideas or has this happened to you?

The 124 sunroof design was not one of Mercedes' better ones. If you can hand-crank the sunroof closed ( socket in the trunk, part of the motor assembly), you may wish to count yourself lucky and leave it alone. Sunroof repairs are expensive to have done and difficult to DIY.

You can also try pulling or pushing on the sunroof by hand while activating the switch "open" or "close." If the motor or cable is just sticky you might be able to break it loose.

Maybe my answer will encourage someone to chip in with some better advice.

I live in constant fear of my sunroof crapping out on me. It moves slooooowwwwllllly (unless it's really hot); I have to help it along. Rails are clean/greased....I'm sure it's somehow dirty in the inner workings. Cleaning it properly is above my pay grade and too expensive for me to pay someone to do. I know I'm living on borrowed time.

I was a little worried about it crapping out and sure enough it did. Just about everything else has too!! It was running smooth and normal speed, but I will try giving it a tug and maybe clean grease with proper lube. Still not sure why it clicks in the relay box.

I will need to hand crank it shut for now. The white knob is to release the gear drive, right? and the bolt with the plastic cap is to manually close it? I thought that one is a torque adjustment of the clutch or motor tension?

at least it's closed

Got it closed for now. Center screw prtion of nut with white cap on it (clockwise). I think if the nut is turned, that is the torque on the motor. Now I need to fine tune it once I figure out what's wrong......

anyone?
