300SDL Sitcky Accelerator Pedal

I have an accelerator pedal that "catches" when I push it from the rest position. The pedal itself is about 1 year old, and it has always been a little catchy, but got suddenly worse. I disengaged the pedal, cleaned the plastic head on the rod, cleaned the back of the pedal and lubricated it with dry lubricant. It is about like it was before (i.e. much better), but it is still catchy. It is hard to see under there, so I took a few pictures, that miraculously came out OK. What the attached pictures reveal is the the rod that connect to the seems too high, or the pedal is slightly too short. I also inspected the rods in the engine compartment, and everything seems pretty clean and moving smoothly. Did something slip? Here are the images of the pedal. In the second image you can clearly see where it is catching. Has some linkage gotten lose?

Any thoughts?

I fixed this a while ago and I forgot to close it out. Embarrassingly enough, I just needed a new pedal. I thought something else was wrong. Easy fix.
