You gotta be kidding me. I thought you were talking about measureable power gains, not theoretical stuff. UH, sure, cold air & faster flame fronts. Let me know when that shows up on a dyno sheet or dragstrip time slip. C'mon, man, seriously! You could inject sub-zero degree air into the engine and with no more fuel, the power ain't gonna increase substantially! Maybe a few hp? MAYBE? Or you can add fuel and get a major increase. I'm more interested in +50hp, not +0.5hp.

The effect you mention probably is more significant on modified engines (i.e., Myna motors) or where boost pressure is much higher than stock, but on a stock OM602/603 turbo, with stock IP, stock fueling, colder air will do nothing except reduce EGT's.

I'm glad the passion here is just that, passion...rather than someone on a power trip! Winmutt and Gsxr have so much to offer.

To the original poster, make sure you read the "300D Buyers Guide" that Dave sent you in a link. I still read that sometimes and think "oh yeh".

I am still not convinced that it is your turbo that is the problem!

First things first. You should get a list together and post your "plan of attack" so we can best help you. Start here:

Maybe give her a good bath first and post some more pics.

1. Change all fuel filters (and the lines you cut)
2. Make sure cooling system is in order so that you don't crack the head onceit is running. (don't let the car overheat!)
3. Diagnose Possible turbo failure.

You're asking the impossible for a person of modest means. In order to show the power differences in a real world environment between post turbo IAT's while keeping the mass the same is going to require a lot more than a couple of dyno runs. To me its just basic common sense backed by scientific fact.

Like I said earlier, we can just agree to disagree.

If you want to argue about flame fronts affecting horsepower we can droll on about that for a while.
