Sprinter Finally Stranded Me

126,000 odometer Miles and the fuel pump started to look like a drip emitter sprinkler with a bolt on the back of the pump backed out. I was 97 miles from home and it's about 2.75 hours of driving. I made it 17 miles and 35 minutes. It was a quick shutdown with about 5 seconds of warning. The sprinkler turned to heavy rain and I left a snail trail, trail of auto death, trans death trail(this was diesel). It took 6 hours to get home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkBJyC8Lz9o

I can only imagine how much you spent on fuel.

Sorry Kerry, I am a kid with a new toy after learning how to post a link to a You Tube video, so I thought I got a bit out of control( after your post) with the posting videos (I did add the video of the knock noise on the other post).

If you watched after I cranked with a no start the fuel rained out under the van. Then later when the tow truck showed up we turned the key without cranking and a even bigger flood came out. It must have another lift pump in the tank.

The fuel pump is one of those things that goes out on these Sprinters. My dad was working on one of our houses in Florida with an employee (took the employee on a trip from Atlanta to Gainsville) and the pump went out, and they were stranded for 2 and a half weeks, as this happened to be a day or so after that volcano in Iceland shutdown air travel in Europe, so they had to find a refurbished one in the US. Still believe the Sprinter is an engineering feat.
