help with conversion, getting om603 for 1992 range rover, what do I need?
I'm looking at getting a om603 out at the wrecker, what should I take from the car?
I'm planning of placing the engine into a 92 range rover. Will I also need to get the computer and what other parts? thank you |
Transmission?
Take the Klima relay wiring if you want to retain the AC compressor interrupts. There is some engine rpm wiring that drives the tach and cruise control. Is the ACC auxiliary coolant pump relevant to the destination vehicle? Sixto 87 300D |
computer controls idle, so not really needed, but couldn't hurt.
wastegate is vacuum actuated, I'd plan on modding it for pressure control. there are DIY's on that in the archive. I understand the 603 in the 140's has the best exhaust manifold, so hunt for it. more answers will be in shortly. |
You didn't mention the source vehicle but 126s have rigid throttle linkage from the pedal, 124s and 140s have a throttle cable that might be easier to adapt.

Through the 91 350SD/L the key switch includes a vacuum switch for engine shutoff. You can retrofit or home brew an electric engine shutoff solution as in the 140 Diesels.

The MAF sensor between the air cleaner and turbo is only necessary for emission controls. Is that relevant to your project? The 140s have a MAP sensor on the firewall if you plan to keep the vacuum actuated charge pressure system. If so, you'll need the rats nest of vacuum lines and vacuum amplifiers on the passenger side fender.

Aside from the EDS controller, 86-87 603s have an idle trimming adjustment module near the brake master cylinder.
