That car probably did not have a #22 head. IIRC 90/91 cars had #18 heads from the factory.
My 1998 production motor has a #22. That auction looks like a good deal. Ya more $ up front, but buying a donor car doesn't give you a 100% guarantee on the parts Plus then you have the dead car to deal with. -J

the weld looks good, but the head also looks to have had it's injectors milled to accept the straight early PC's...

Great buy...I wish I had a 22 head for when mine inevitably goes out on me. I have had a few scares and a few moderate overheats, but she is still holding up!

If I may, #22 represents the latest cylinder head casting for the turbo 603. Improved metallurgy to resist overheating damage, and improved oil journals to resist head gasket failure. That's what I've heard and read though not from official MB sources.

Nothing wrong with 14's some are prone to cracking dosnt mean they all do, why fix it when it's not broke
