W123 240d Blower woes.

Mercedes never fails to amaze me. When it is cool outside , the ac/heater blower works great. Driving in to work. Blows perfect. Now 6 pm it is 97 degrees and I have the. AC working it blows fine for about 6-8 minutes. Then slows down. After 10 minutes barely a.breath of air. Until I step on the brakes. Then it speeds up. Now I did try it stopped to.see of it was an electrical issue and the fan speed didn't change. I have already ordered a new fan but is there anything else I should be looking for?.
