Three days without power.

Bought a generator, but the cable is out, no internet access, no phone and someone hacked my cell account, dead in the water for a while.

At a friends house for whom I brought said generator now that my power is back on. So am able to post here.

Does anyone know what conditions are like on Ocracoke Island? I have seen some pictures of Hatteras and the breaching of NC 12, but nothing on Ocracoke.

Thanks
John

Oh, PLEASE...

Last report I heard was it was going east of Bermuda & not bother us, but that was yesterday - things might have changed.

As far as Ocracoke goes, there are a couple of web sites you can try:

www.islandfreepress.com

www.obxvoice.com

I don't know of any other sites at this time, but will post if I get the info.

i've been without power since saturday. i'd be enjoying myself but my wife and 19 month old are not taking the outage very well. all of my cars and property survived, more than i car say for some of my neighbors who have large trees sitting in their living rooms and atop vehicles.

We were lucky, it was only out for 36 hours here. Like you, I could rough it and be fine. Unfortunately the Mrs. and four kids (5-13) generally do a good job of sapping that enjoyment. They were good for the first 12 hours but after that...

My aunt had a tree flatten her house in eastern CT and our northern New England salesman, who lives in Chittenden, VT, hopes to have the dirt road connecting his house to town cleared by this weekend. Although Rt. 4 through town was washed out in both directions.
