190D 2.5 fuel economy.
I am thinking seriously about buying a 190D 2.5 non turbo automatic as a beater for my girlfriend from a friend of mine. What kind of fuel economy are you guys getting out of the non turbo automatics?

I guess I tried to be specific...
I'm aware of the governments website. However the EPA went back through and altered all the old numbers, so that's no bueno. And that 190D thread covers all sorts of variants. I'm not trying to pick the 190 to buy, I know exactly what the car is an was wondering if anyone had some specific insight. I'll post back with my fuel records after I get some miles on ot

Best guess in "real world" driving conditions - 35 mpg mixed hwy and city. 40 mpg at 60mph on a long flat highway trip. Low 30's in town.
SteveM - 190D guy.

My 87 2.5 auto has given a reliable 39-41 at 60 mph hwy and 31-35 in the city, I live in San Francisco and its HILLY! Day in, day out for 6 years. 200K and doesn't burn a quart between 3K oil changes 15W-40 Rotella. BTW Paul, are you still selling a OM606?

So definately better than my 87 300D. Cool, thanks for the info guys. I'll go buy it early this week.
Yes I have a 59k mile and a 130k mile 606 na's from w210s still. $1700 on the 59k and 1200 on the 130k. 59k was bought from a recycler with a startup warranty (since expired but they were standing behind it) and the 130k apparently ran very well because the owner of the cars son had it up around 100 on a country road and got the rear end loose... And then the car was a parts car lol.
