w210 td not boosting

my 99 e300 td
started yesterday on the way home from work noticed it didnt pull and needed more revs to get on the hwy. has power and runs good but doesnt have that extra juice the turbo added.

done/checked:

-no codes
-ic piping is good and rubber is new.
-turbo spins freely
-new fuel filter
-fresh oil
-exhaust seems to not be plugged

any ideas?

does the 99 have more than one fuel filter?

have you tried driving with the fuel cap off?

As above, the EGR might be dirty, or a bad MAF ( but this will throw a code) or a Waste gate transducer that is leaking or bad ( but this should give some code too)

zero boost..it seems to spool but not going to the engine so im gonna take a look at the wastegate. ya i get in a zone where as long as i was taking bolts and parts off i'd upgrade things a bit.

i was thinking the egr or wastegate too. still zero codes..no unusual smoke or roughness in the engine(runs and drives as a perfect running n/a). just no boost pushing the engine. i'll take a closer look at things this weekend when i have more time.

Make sure the rubber line did not crack or come loose from the MAP sensor. This will cause the exact symptoms you're experiencing.

the map sensor is near the firewall, engine side, foreward the brake master. it has one electrical connection and a rubber hose running from the map to the egr under the intake. check the rubber hose to security and cracks as mentioned above. there is a handy diagram on the passenger side ecu "weather box" with the components and the locations. check all of the hose connections at the egr transducer, too. if the transducer's vacuum supply is disconnected you'll have boost issues.

ok so i drove with the gas cap off, checked the map line and it seemed ok. was attached and no cracks. i pressure checked the vac line and it held pressure. theres a auto parts down the street so i replaced the line anyway. i also cleaned the maf for ****s and giggles. everything seems unchanged after checking the maf sensor.

Check for vacuum at the wastegate. There should be full vacuum (or close to) at idle. If you don't have vacuum there, try swapping the wastegate and EGR transducers (they're the same) and see if you either get a code or it starts working again.

There are two paths to check on in this situation:

One, the turbo actually isn't boosting and two, the ECU isn't seeing the boost that's there and not fueling for it.

For emissions/anti-smoke purposes, the ECU will only fuel the engine beyond a certain extent until it sees about +3# of boost.

ok switched the transducers and got 2 codes ..0100 and 02xx i forgot exactly. so does this mean that its probably the transducer? there is vacuum at going into the wastegate transducer and egr transduce

Probably P0243, relating to the interaction between the MAF and the EGR. That's starting to lean in the direction of a bad transducer.

Did you get your boost back after the swap?

still no boost yup code 0243 wastegate solenoid a.. except for the codes, the car was the same. wouldnt the faulty transducer be the egr side if i got a code when i swapped it to the wastegate?

i check the wastegate rod and it move freely then checked it with vacuum, it seems to work as normal. i think my egr might be plugged causing the boost sensor to get no readings.
