seat covers recommendation?

I've been driving the no-AC 116 for a couple of months averaging about 700 miles a week. I'm still in love with the old car and it honestly puts a big grin on my face sometimes while I'm bombing down the interstate or cruising a tasty backroad.

But...

MBTex may be the awesomest, most durable textile on the planet but it makes my back sticky and my manparts sweaty

I tried one of those taxi driver bead deals but it's too narrow for my azz.

Any advise? How about sheepskin? Something else I haven't heard of?

I have forgotten about a frozen azz from cold vinyl in the winter as well...

Thanks

I bought the wool covers from performance products for my 240D
These:http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/wool-blend-seat-covers-lowback-bucket-seat-pair.html

They are the low back ones so your head rests will stick out and they cover the whole back of the seat. I put them on 50k miles ago, and they still look good and are wearing well.

Are there holes in the top for the head rest or did you have to customize?

I have driven mine without a/c, and have the sheepskin covers. I believe they make a considerable difference. Instead of being hot, as some believe, you are actually more comfortable as there is a nice cushion of breathability. The only hang-up is that they are certainly expensive.

"The only hang-up is that they are certainly expensive." especially for the Sheep.

Couple weeks ago, we were coming back into Calif from Oregon. weather up north was mostly in the 70`s, coming down I-5 south of Lake Shasta, it got hoter and hoter. turned off 5 onto 99 towards Chico at red Bluff, and it must have been 100 deg. we were looking for some fresh Peaches, they grow a lot of them in this area, and finally found a sign pointing down a driveway at a peach farm. get out of the car, and the back of my pants and shirt were stuck to me like you poured water on me. the 240D has NO air conditioning.

I was thinking maybe one those wire mesh seat pads they use to sell would be good, they give you some air space between you and the seat.

Vinyl and Leather seats don`t give you any breathing room, cloth would be better like some of the Euro cars have I see in the yards (PNP). cloth would be great in the freezing cold mornings coming up soon. X2 on the sheep skins, next best thing.

OH, we picked 27lbs of fresh peaches off the trees, they were about the size of soft balls @ $1.00 per lb. can`t get any better than that,.
The Peach Cobler sure was good my wife made a few night later.

I spent $300 to get real sheepskins for my two front seats (took headrests off) and have been driving without AC for 5 years. I adore those covers and if I ever sell the car (nope) I will actually keep the covers for myself. The wool is an inch thick, my finger sinks down to my first knuckle in it. And it keeps me warm in the winter and cool (and no burned legs) in the summer.
Best money I've spent! And I got them in Navy to match the interior perfectly.

Definitely on my short-list of stuff for my TD. Unfortunately that short-list is a ways down on the long-list of stuff.

Yup. Slid my headrest right in after putting on the cover.

I just hate how ratty those sheepskins can look way too quickly. Now for sheer style...

Are cloth seats for a w116 hard to find there? I saw 3 or 4 with cloth interior the last time i went to the junkyard.

Dmitry,
You might mention to your vendor they only mention the SL Class when you get to "Step Three".

I would be interested if they carry seat covers for W123 and W126 Models or more.
