Like the ad said, just needs a charge Sounds like a typical early W124 evaporator slow leak that you have to charge once a year. Removing the dash to replace actuators is half the work of getting to the evaporator.
How's the rare options turbo coming? Sixto 87 300D |

I haven't touch her yet. Im trying to clean up the garage and get rid of some cars. 8 is too many!! Soon I will hopefully get her going.
The ac. What and were is the evaporator. I don't think that's it. The ac coil radiator got the fan and horn smashed into it. It looks like it was leaking from there. Just a guess. I have a new one coming with no bent fins for 70 and fan that isn't broken for 20 a radiator support for 100 refurbished push button thing for 45 and the vacuum thing behind the glove box for 15. And free glove box. That's all including shipping. Im going to cut out the old radiator support and weld in a new one is there any diy for that measurements. Ill probably just take measurements of my other one. Ps do you like the new headlights!? |

The evaporator is in the bowels of the dash.
Check the bottom radiator support as well. Pretty common for the lower support to take a hit when parking. The radiator is pushed closer to the fan and engine movement sends the fan into the radiator. Something else to compare to the rare options car if it's never been hit. Pity you already bought a fan and evaporator. Upgrading to a 94-95 124 condenser and double fan will greatly improve cabin cooling in traffic and low speed. The condenser at least is not a bolt on deal. You'll need to rework the fittings and hoses. Sixto 87 300D |

I have not purchased them yet sixto. Would I have to pay more for the upgraded ac? Is there a diy.
Thanks |

I assume you're buying used parts so the price is whatever you agree with the seller. I don't know if new parts cost more, early 124 vs late 124. I assume 2 fans cost more than 1. No DIY unitl you write one
Some folks talk about a parallel flow condenser for even better performance. IIRC there isn't a factory option parallel flow condenser for these cars. Sixto 87 300D |

I only have what's in my car which I'm not parting
If the goal is to just get it working, stick with original parts. Who knows if US spec parts are compatible with your car. Did you compare against your other 87 300D? If you're going to open the system to replace the condenser, don't forget a new receiver/drier. Sixto 87 300D |

Will a 300e fan shroud fit on my 300d?

No. The 300E fan is more centered on the radiator core. Some of the 300D fan is over the end tank. A 300E fan and clutch won't work either since the 300E clutch fan spins the other way.
If you need a shroud, get a new one from the dealer or FastLane for a US spec 87 300D (verify with your other car that it fits). The redesigned shroud is a two-piece deal that lets you remove the shroud without removing the fan. This cuts 30-60 minutes from tasks like replacing the serpentine belt, vacuum pump, etc. The redesigned shroud was ~$70 from the dealer a couple of years ago. Sixto 87 300D |

Sorry I didn't know that wont happen again.
I have a guy who does ac im trying to find him at work. We have lots of people and three shift. Ok temp wise is this normal. That's the hottest it will get. It drops a little bellow the 90 tic. Then goes up to that. Im sure its the thermostat cycling. |

Under what conditions? I have to charge up a the grapevine with a vengeance to get past 100*C and that's with a turbo.
What 90*C tic? Most of us interpret the hash mark by the pointer to be 100*C. Sixto 87 300D |
