Just got home with my new to me 84 300D. It runs great and just needs some TLC and it will be a great driver quality car. Stay tuned for updates

Woot! Just be careful, it ain't no 240D you know - you might actually have to worry about getting a ticket.

Drove it to dinner tonight and discovered that the Clock and Cruise Control both work... also found the owners manual and window sticker in the glove box. The car was originally sold in Savannah but it spent most of its life in South Florida a few miles from where i grew up and my 240D/grandparents lived. Tomorrow begins the cleaning...

You need both the cruise control and the clock for calculating speed.

That's good news!

Careful with that powerful unleashing the power of that 3 liter fire breathing Turbo, could give you a whip lash.

Nice looking car, look similar to my 85, except yours has paint.

So far the list of needed parts includes oil cooler hose, valve cover gasket, fuel filters, oil and filter, breather hoses for valve cover and rear shocks.

Should I just replace both oil cooler hoses at the same time? The lower one is soaked but the upper one is dry.

I would replace them both, if one fails you will are about 30 seconds from needing a new engine too.

Running warm? It's at the line between 80 and 120. It is the same spot my 240D stays at so I'm not too worried.

My 240 also runs on the warm side. If it goes above 90 I'd be concerned.

Nice find!

Nice find! My 85 has rust at exactly the same spot at the bottom right corner of the rear windshield.

But I do like the color of the 240 better. And yours has a lot more paint on it than mine too.

Today's work consisted of a oil and filter change, new fuel filters, cleaned banjo bolt (it was completely blocked) wash exterior, vacuum interior, remove carpets to air out, discover a small rust hole in floorboard of rear passenger compartment

The odometer in the car reads 345k miles but I have a very hard time believing that is accurate. There isn't enough wear on the pedals, seats and steering wheel for that many miles.

Before changing the Oil Cooler Hoses read up on some ways to prevent the Oil Cooler Nipples from stripping the Threads. And/Or how to repair the stripped threads on the Oil Cooler Nipples.
