Turbo Oil supply line leak (CA 85 300D)

It seems as if my turbo oil supply line has a slight leak at the bracket. Do I need to remove this to repair it? If I get a new one, what gaskets will I need (other than the top one), is it a hard job?

I am not sure what you mean by Bracket.

There is a Metal Clamp at the rear of the Cylinder Head that steady the Turbo Oil Inlet Tubing. When it becomes loose there it has been know to wear a hole in the Tubing. And, that is an area that is more easily fixed than the next area.

If by Bracket you are meaning the Flange on the Turbo Oil Inlet Tubing that bolts onto the Turbocharger; they have been know to crack where they are Brazed to the Tubing.

(One of the causes of it cracking in that area can be if the previously spoken of Clamp at the End of the Cylinder Head is loose and allowing vibration.)

Some members have removed the Turbo Oil Inlet tubing and had the Cracked Brazed over.

I have not read of the Gasket causing a leak but that is possible. If you have not checked the Bolts that hold the Flange down it is also possible they could be loose.

There was a recent thread by another Member with the same problem. There is 2 different types of Turbo Oil Inlet Tubing’s so if you decide to replace it you will need your VIN so you get the correct one.

I do not think it is too difficult to replace. On the Bottom rear of the Oil Filter Housing there is a Banjo Bolt and 2 Crush Washers (replace the Crush Washer), there is the Clamp I spoke of at the End of the Cylinder Head, (I do not remember if there is any other Clamps but I have an 84 and not an 85) and there is the 2 Bolts with Washers that hold the Flange on.

After those are removed it is just a matter of removing the Tube.
If you scrape off the old Gasket be sure not to get any particles inside as that passage goes directly to the Turbo Bearings.

you need 2 each- N 007603 3014104 Seal Ring

Out here in CA ACE Hardware sells Copper Washers. You would need to bring along the Banjo Bolt for the correct size.

Harbor Freight sells a Metric Copper Washer Assortment.

Not the ones for the Fue Injection Pump Delivery Valves; but in general if they are not too distorted; Copper Washers that are heated red hot and allowed to cool they can often be reused.
