rotella t5 10w30 good bad??
 

Ok I am a Mobil delvac super 1300 15w 40 fan or if I have the money amsoil. Well low on cash. I wanted to run synthetic. So I picked up t5 at walmart 16 buck plus a 2 dollar discount. Well its been a week and I don think I like it. Then engine is way loud and when you come to a stop it shutters then idles normal. The oil pressure idles at 1 then at full throttle above 3 and if I l coast and barely hit the gas little bellow 3.
Before I change the oil no shutter and the engine wasnt loud at idle.

it depends on your mileage and climate.I run 15w40 for 8 months and then 5w40 during cold months.With sync oil I still change filter every 3,000 mi.Then run it 6,000 miles.

Isn't T5 (10w 30) for gassers, while T6 (5w 40) for diesels?

If you want to use T5 to save some money, you should be using the 10W-40 version on the 603.

Personally, I use the T6 and go 5K miles between changes.

It works for me.

I run the T6 in all of our vehicles gas, or diesel. So far so good!

Supposedly not a "true" synthetic, but it seems to be pretty good regardless.

Looked it up its suppose to be for diesels. Would that oil cause a shutter and loud engine? Has anyone else have that issue with thin oil?

The lifters must not like -30.

Both Rotella T5 and T6 are rated API "spark" and "compression" ignition. So I run T6 5w 40 in gasoline engine Volvo w/243000 miles. Feels like it can easily go to 300000 miles.

I use the 10-30 T5 in my Kubota. It is diesel rated and 10-30 is spec'd

isn't T5 a blend synthetic, while t6 is full?
I'd stick with the T6 on this LONG 6cyl hydraulic lifter motor...

I've run the T6 for 95,000 of the 107,000 I've put on my 300SD....so about 98% of the miles I've done on my replaced timing chain....with 101,000 miles on the chain it has about .5 degrees of stretch. Not bad. Thats being driven hard, and through several cold winters, etc.

That's what I thought at first, but apparently not as near as I can tell from this BITOG thread.

I guess I could be wrong, as I never made it to the end of the thread: my eyes went crossed after a couple pages. Supposedly its made of "slack wax" (what ever the hell that is) that goes through a proprietary process, but is originally derived from dino oil. In the end, I don't have enough chemical engineering background to understand what makes it better or worse and it could be made from elf farts for all the difference it would mean to me. :confused: What I do know is that it seems to work well in my vehicles.
