wagon sending unit came apart in tank
Ever hear of this one? Fuel guage went crazy for a day. I ordered 46mm socket, and while it was on its way, the guage quit. I took out the sending unit today, and the inside piece came out without the tube! Somewhere in the tank lies the nut and bottom piece. I don't think the loose parts will cause a problem because the screen tank will catch them. Someone tell me if I'm wrong on that one please.
Does anyone have a good used sending unit compatable with a 1981 300TD? Thanks, |
Screen is raised off the bottom of the tank in a TD so the parts won't be a problem. Check with John (VSTECH) I think he has some wagon parts.

I have a wagon sending unit... problem it I lost the nut when I was cleaning it up. And the rod the float rides on has some pitting. So it's basically for parts. I think you could find a brass nut to work. Send me a pm if your interested.

I've pulled a couple out that were in pieces. It happens in the sedans as well, but not as much it seams.

Actually I think the nut is what's rattling around in my garbage disposal
Maybe I can fish it out. |

Yea, this happened to me. I was able to get the parts out of the tank with a flexible claw rod, a bright light, and a lot of patience. I had misjudged the amount of torque on that little rubber-encased nut that secures the assembly the last time I had the sending unit out.
