Heater Fan not running
The fan for my heater has not been working the past few days. The last time it did work (2 days ago) the fan had a high pitch whistle noise which got louder with the higher fan setting. Prior to this the fan was working well (although a few times a year it wouldn't activate and I would have to push a bunch of the buttons before it would start). Do these symptoms sound like a bad CCU or just a bad fan...hopefully the latter. Is the fan easy to replace? Thanks for the help.

Search!
The high pitched noise is consistent with bad bearings in the blower motor. The motor stops working because the bearings freeze up, or a brush has worn down to no longer make good contact with the armature.
You realize of course that many people before you have had blower motor issues, and tons of info is already on the forum about that. There is a "search" feature above. Just type in "blower motor 123" or "heater motor 300d" or so to find many answers. |

Thanks for the help and search suggestion. As you suggested there is a lot of info out there. I think that I'm going to replace the motor. Should I replace the motor and fan? Is the motor and fan pretty much one unit? thanks

everybody better take care of their 123 blowers!!!
sometimes the bearings can be cleaned and lubed and you'll get another year out of it. others the bearings seize and melt the wiring in the car and burn the car to the ground... service the blower!!!
