I have a Four Seasons parts catalog that has several pages of blower motors showing motor dimensions, shaft diameter, flange size etc.

I think I have about 6 w123 blowers I have pulled. 4 screws and a wire plug, and they drop out. $29.00 after tax, enviro fee and core charge.
I was in PNP today, and pulled 2 for my Datsun PU. it has been squeeling when first turned on, and the air volumn is slowing down. I put power to these to see if they worked, almost lifted me off the ground. . Charlie

Pictures taking it out... BUT
Wow - that must be the fastest W123 ever dash strip and heater box removal on record!
There she blows (sorry I could resist) Remove the three 8mm screws like Charlie says Remove the spring clip for the wiring cover And disconnect the wires - you don't even have to label them - the design is brilliant one bit male the other bit female... they must have been put together by monkeys if they had to make it that easy!

Problem?
I've broken enough stuff on my car and chapter 83-120 stops short of pulling the motor to bits.
Has anyone got a good plan for taking the fan off of the motor? It has this type of funny "hose clamp" fitting on the end... There is a little screw on the plastic housing at the other end but I have a feeling that's not the whole answer... ...as for numbers and identifying marks - nothing so far except for some 30 year old stickers that are too dirty to read...

Screw on the other hand will let you take the motor itself out of the housing so you can see the bearing itself

Lube is good, but don't lose too much sleep over it if your motor doesnt' get its two drops a year. The blower motor in my 85 recently went out but the bearings were fine. The commutator was worn all the way through and there is nothing I know of to fix that. I did briefly try to mock up a 126 blower motor and it looked like it could work with some whittling on the case and some shimming. I ended up ordering a used 123 blower from a yard in CA recommended by Phil. It hurt my wallet, but works like a charm again.

I didn't recognise that heater at all untill I realised it was from a non-AC car. The blower on AC-equipped W123s is easier as it's behind the glovebox. Just remove the under-dash cover, the wire connector then 3-4 screws and it drops out.
Happy Motoring, Mark

Hmm, that does look like a replaceable bearing in those photos... the 126 shell is different...
and as mentioned, there are different versions of the 123 blower... I have several versions to compare, and I will try to get photos!

I mean, mine runs good. But what kind of PM can I do to keep it going for as long as possible? Plus, is it easily accessible, or is it a day's worth of work to get at it?
