I would be interested in seeing how the electrical connector was changed. Did you change it on the motor, or on the other piece?

Part # on the Bosch Box the motor came in: 0 130 111 134
Volvo Part # W0133-1815438 (I think... this was on my Autopartsway invoice).

On my '84 300D, there are a pair of jumper wires that connect the fan plug terminals on the housing to the motor. See below:

(image taken from the Peachparts diy on W123 blower brushes)

I just clipped off the male connector on the jumper wire that went to the stock female connector on the stock motor. I crimped/soldered in a female connector in its place. Easy peasy.

Nice work

I wonder if this motor fits the W123 Euro blowers.

Just received it today. Mine was $72.00 shipped. Looks just right.

Thank you for the recon, Khan!

Is sewing machine oil the same as light machine oil?

To lube my fan motor, I see in this thread that I should use a few drops of light machine oil. Is that the same thing as sewing machine oil?

I just want to use the right stuff, and I already have an old can of Singer sewing machine oil.

Thanks

I wish this thread helped those of us with the early metal fan blowers found on '77 and '78 models. The shaft is a larger diameter on them than the later models with plastic blades, and I have yet to find a suitable replacement motor. This no blower in Winter business is no fun at all.

Anyone else in this boat with me?

Well, the first option is out, because it is the wrong kind and won't fit. The second might be an option.... I don't know. It is listed for non-climate controlled cars, and my car has the evil ACC system. Thanks, though. It may work, I will have to call them and hopefully get a part number from it.

How many amps should the b lower motor on a 240d draw?

I have taken out the blower on a 1982 240 d which keepos blowing fuises at high speed setting number three how many amps should it draw without resistant out of the car. It has been drawing about 8 after i lubricated the shaft but the fuse is only 8 amps and that is probably why it is blowing. I recently changed it for another "used"blower and after about a month that started to blow fuses. It is odd that it worked for a while then it started to blow fuses too.

Something like million-mile blower syndrome? I would bet my money on luck of the draw. The good news is that your '82 should be able to benefit from the reasonably priced new blower motor substitutes that were previously discussed.

For what it is worth, I am envious of you folks with later blower models. In the end, my '77 forced me to purchase a NOS blower off eBay out of Germany. I consider myself lucky to have obtained one for about $225. The rest of you with '78+ cars don't have to suffer as much as I did.

In terms of taking care of the blowers...

Is it correct to just place some oil in this lower bearing area, and perhaps rotate it a bit?

Is it possible to get more lubrication into this or the upper bearing without removal of the blower cage?

My blower has very little play so I’d like to avoid fiddling with it too much. But do want to lube it.
