Including the ip..sadly someone had taken the compressor for the ac out of every one of them... Sigh.. I still have more to go and get.. They have a sale every saturday where anything you can carry the length of the scales is yours for 50... you can use a cart for 25 extra

Ok..i have the old diaphragm out.. I discovered a very gummy sticky substance inside of my ip... It is terrible and brownish... Any ideas what this could be? Should I try to flush the inside of the ip with break parts cleaner? Or let it be? My old diaphragm was toast on at least two places...

Your IP has its own separate oil supply right? If so, I would drain it, and flush it with something. Maybe not brake cleaner. Maybe diesel fuel??? Then I'd refill it with fresh oil.

I'll wager that someone put some type of stop leak in there in order to try to fix the diaphragm

How about some pictures of your progress Ron? I'd like to see how you're getting on.

I am pleased to inform you that our collective work has paid off! I have a vid to post tomorrow... She is winning so much better.. Just the dark smoke under hard acceleration but not too much, just a little... You guys have been invaluable... I have a confession, I broke that cotton picking seal in the large governor door, so I had to get some gasket in a tube and repair it.. I'm going to order a new one bc I'm just not satisfied with that. But she is cranking and running great! Now mu next chore is to replace the thermostat and the water pump if necessary ... I think that may be the cause if my leaking water...

I think you've got the same water pump as on the later engines - sometimes they drip from little (vent?) holes just behind the pulley.

Yes, you are right... That's probably where it is coming from, (the water leak.) And the cause of the heating up when she is idling... That's going to be my next project... I'll probably start that next weekend.. Maybe I'll make a vid of that too! Lol

Your remarks are more than gratious. You still get to do the work and buy the parts though. In both those respects the project is all yours.

That wrecking yard was a real salvation. I only wish we all had your good luck in that regard. Your model is totally history in our salvage yards. The rust got those models up here years ago.
