So what aobut the Organic acid technology they run in the big rigs. (red Collant form CAT) That stuff is good for like a million miles in big rigs with Cast iron blocks. Anyone try that rout. Most of the new VW's use G12 has anyone tried that.

I have green in mine now for a flush with cirtius clean. How long can you leave that stuff in for? As my block was sitting open and dry for almost 3 years. I'd like to make sure I've dissolved most of the scale out if it.

Thanks

No, but if it is from CAT, it has to be good. wonder where one could buy the stuff from?

Wow, I was just about to post asking about the CAT coolant. Anyone have any experiences? I have a buddy who can get it from work. I initially shied away from it assuming it was re-badged dexcool, but it seems I was mistaken - first time for everything I guess...

Does everyone dislike the prestone flush product? After looking thru the flush threads I'm thinking I may not be flushing anything. My coolant is old, but the temps stay under 85 nearly all the time.

No.

What would be the exact name of the product about which you inquire?

I like the prestone back flush kit it works really well to flush out EVERYTHING (don't forget to pull the block drain bolt), in addition I use Shout laundry gel and Mercedes Citrus flush multiple times to flush the system.

My personal practice is to use Prestone Super Radiator Cleaner (or similar Zerex product) for "routine" antifreeze changes. I would use Prestone Super Flush only on a system known to have been neglected. Even then, I would be cautious about allowing Super Flush to get to the heater core, given the difficulty associated with a leak there.

Anything but Dexcool should do the job for a 616/7 and anything but green stuff shows you care when you put it for sale. Why not stay with what's in there now so there's less concern about contamination?

G05 in both the E300 diesel and CLK V8 for me. Cheap, easy to find at Napa and O'Reilly, and the right stuff.

" when you put it for sale. Why not stay with what's in there now so there's less concern about contamination? " .

# 1 : If I ever planned to sell it , I'da bought a cheap car not a nice old Mercedes .

# 2 : I like to perform routine flushes , these have 350,000 + miles on them .

.
I have never had but good luck with Dexcool. I have used it with great results in my 300d, both of my mint condition Saab 95 Aero's, my 1999 Saab 93 Viggen, my Shamrock boat.
I believe most peoples problems with Dexcool are a result of their poor attention to detail.
MAN diesels come from the factory with Dexcool installed. So does the MTU in my boat.
I love all the internet experts

Exclamation Death Coolant

Oh yeah ~ I remember when the entire Municipal Fleet had this crap in it and the problems were endless .

That's why I'm skittish about any yellow coolant and this G-05 stuff is yellow.....

I'll try to go buy some this week and begin the bi - annual cooling system servicing .

ONE , $1,700.00 water pump job (failed in Rhyolite , Nevada, good look it up on the map ) .

Was enough for me .

That I followed through and rented a trailer and went back out of state to rescue a $500 240D tells you how much I like the car.....

We're still driving it years later , bad engine and all , I still love it .
