Last time in Autozone, my head spun from all the new coolants - red, pink, blue, green. Many are specific to different Jap cars, and so expensive they come in cute quart jugs.
Both my 300D's have Evans Waterless Coolant, one for several years now. Both hit ~105 C climbing the steep I-5 grade south into the LA Basin on a 100 F summer day (where manufacturer's validate new models), but might have seen the same w/ regular 50/50. My 1985 has been over-heating this winter (~100 C), but I think something else, due to the symptoms. I swapped the T-stat, and will next pull the water pump now that my backup minivan is repaired. I won't be surprised to find the impellor loose on the shaft or corroded. If it turns out the head is cracked, that might raise concerns re Evans coolant, though the engine has unknown mileage and history.

But I do believe having the correct manufacturer prescribed coolant is important. This will prevent having a future mishap of cross contamination and issues like I posted almost 5 years ago. For your w123 folks, stick with the G05 coolant.

My 240D came with green stuff, so I fully flushed, and put in some blue BMW coolant I had on hand. No problems to report after a year. Don

Your experience is based on flawed work. Cross contamination confirms that. Accept the fact that the failures of Dexcool is based on your lack of attention to detail not the product. People make mistakes all the time. Don't minimize my success with your lack of..........

I've used a combination of goat urine and crankcase drainings for years now with no issues.😉

Example: The chart given to GM dealers regarding ATF currently says that GM-recommended ATF for post 2013 cars will last 150,000 miles before change. Translation according to GM techs I know: 90-100% of the capability of the fluid as a hydraulic/ lubricant/coolant will be gone at 150K miles, so you have to change it. No comments on filter, so I guess you leave it in place, huh? Would YOU wait that long? I wouldn't. When I asked the techs about their personal cars, the mileage before change varied from 25,000-35,000 miles.

If you read my reply to your comment more carefully, I was agreeing with you that OAT coolant can be run successfully when attention to the details is made. I then said I have plenty of successes with it. I then proceeded to note the failures are typically from cross contamination - which I have never mistakenly done but seen the results of others. So my recommendation is to use the correct coolant for the vehicle type to prevent this from happening.
