Diesel Fuel Rails?

Good Day! One of the metal lines from my injector pump to the injector cracked off at the nipple. I need to replace this line, for the #5 injector.

1st question, are these called Fuel Rails? If not, what are they called?

2nd question, is there a supplier other than the dealership? I ordered one from the dealership but am looking at approximately $100 for the 2 feet of steel tube.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
glenn

Those are usually called injector lines, or hard injector lines.

Not only are they expensive, they're only available new through the dealer and often special order from Germany, but you can always check with Phil and team through the Buy Parts link at the top of the page. Check the parts forum and wrecking yard for a good used replacement. In a pinch, you can use the #5 line from a 90-93 300D 2.5, 92-93 300SD or 94-95 S350 and bend to fit.

Get new retaining clips so you don't break more lines -

Thank You All

I had already ordered the part through the dealership unfortunately! Suffice to say, I will be checking with PeachParts before any further purchases!

Thank You also for enlightening me on the vernacular. I am new to diesel and barely a weekend mechanic but am learning! :-)

Thank You all for sharing your knowledge!

If you don't follow this advice, you will be ordering another one. Make sure all of the supports for the lines are in place.

I have just sent an email to Phil to order these clips and parts in the aforementioned quantities. I have peered under the hood. I can identify where most of the clips reside but not all. Does anyone have a diagram?

Also, sixto, from where did you get the part numbers? I have purchased the W-124 Factory Service Manual CD's. I find it rather difficult to navigate though...

Thank You All for sharing your knowledge!!!

Thank You LRazaitis for your offer. I will have to decline at the moment as I am up and running again. Just got back from camping with the Boy Scouts. :-)

WHunter, Thank You for your response!!! I did a visual under the hood count and came up with different quantities than yours. Can you please confirm?

I have:
1 x 523 601 078 04 86 $2.50 ea
5 x 526 601 078 03 86 $2.50 ea
1 x 529 601 078 20 41 $2.90 ea
2 x 532 603 078 01 41 $2.50 ea
3 x 535 Same number as item 532
1 x 538 601 078 26 41 $3.00 ea

Also, I would like to replace the 6 clips across the bottom of the back hatch. I believe these are either:
VAICO Molding Clip White,W0133-1902888 - PeachParts
OR
EZ Moulding Clip White,W0133-1902888 - PeachParts

Is one better than the other? Will I also need an adhesive to attach the molding on the bottom of the hatch?

Again, 1000 THANKS for all the assistance you are all giving! It is making my new baby a lot of fun!!!

TIA,
glenn

The quantity should be correct, as it came from EPC using this data
WDB 1241931F031773
300 TD TURBO.
It is better to have a few spares than not enough, with the cost of replacement lines.

The panel clips are a personal preference, I have used both with no issue.

I don't recall using adhesive, but the last hatch panel I re-mounted was five years ago.
