Need help finding Door Seals and Window Scrapers for W123
Hello, I own a 1980 300TD wagon that’s in need of a lot of love. I’ve been working on it all summer cleaning it up and getting it so that it starts and runs no problem. As I live in the Pacific Northwest (Portland, Oregon), I seriously need to get the car water tight. I’m having troubles finding door seals and window scrapers as well as figuring out how to install them. I found this guide for the window scrapers:
BenzObsession.com • View topic - w123 Outer Window Brush Replacement - DIY but ********** no longer seems to stock the scrapers. A local place ********** says they can get seals for only the front doors for $50 each, and scrapers for only the front doors for $30 each. Then there’s *************** which seems to have the right door seals for the rear wagon doors, but no window scrapers. $30 for window scrapers seems pretty expensive to me. Does anyone have any comments on these retailers or prices? Or perhaps better suggestions where I could find these parts? Also, does anyone know how to install the door seals? Thanks for any help. posting links to competing parts sale sites not allowed |

Hello, welcome to the forum!
you cannot post ANY links to competing websites on this forum. this site will help you with ANYTHING you need to buy or install. it's what we do! give phil a call at the number at the top right corner of the window, or click the buy parts button up top, and pick out everything you need for your car! the member who created the DIY you linked to is an awesome help on this site, and will likely chime in to assist you with any questions you have on the repair. I've done it myself several times, and it's pretty straight forward! be cautious around the mirror trim, it's pretty fragile! |
I believe the window scrapers are dealer only. I found some good ones on a junkyard car and pulled them. To get the outside scrapers off you have to pull the trim but gently tapping it upwards. Then the scrapers can be popped off. For the inside ones you have to pull the door panel and pop the clips off.
You can definitely get door seals from the parts tab up top |
nope, Phil has sent me dozens of the brushes for windows. he stocks them for sure.

Thank you for the help. And sorry about breaking a forum rule. I'll keep that in mind in the future.

Pelican parts has the window scrapers and the door seals- I've bought both from them in the last month. While there is no rear door scrapers listed, you can use the sedan version- and when I did that I got all the same part numbers for both front and rear doors. You will also need the plastic inserts/clips (IDK the part numbers but they are cheap- note front and rear doors have different clips IIRC) and some rubber cement for the door seals.

Do you remember the parts numbers for the door seals you ordered by any chance? Also, were you satisfied with the brand?

The window rails only come in one length and have to be cut to size, hence: only one part number. They are simple to install. Carefully remove the chrome strip below the window and then the rails. I never had to replace my snaps, but mine is an older W123 that uses metal snaps. Apparently they were changed to plastic in later years.

Alright, here's the information on the parts I've put together.
1237201578 (LF Door) 1237201678 (RF Door) 1237300578 (LR Door - Wagon Specific) 1237300678 (RR Door - Wagon Specific) 1267250365 X4 (scraper) 0009871015 (Front door clips) 0009902492 (Back door Clips?) As for brand, avoid URO/ADA. However, Meyle brand seems alright for the most part. I'm still not sure about the clips. How many clips are needed for each door? Are there actually clips on the back door or not? Thanks. |
6 clips on the front doors and 5 for the rears. front and rears use 2 different types.

As for brand, avoid URO/ADA. However, Meyle brand seems alright for the most part. [QUOTE] I've had good luck with my Uro windshield seals. And I've know folks who weren't happy with Meyle brand. I've never had problems with either. |
I am always impressed by the stuff you guys know.
Thanks. |
I recently did the same stuff to my 84 300d. The only door seals that I would puchase are OEM. They are pricey, around 200+ each, but the quality is far superior to all of the others. Mercedes puts fabric into the seals at the wear points so I am confident that these parts will last much longer thatn any of the other brands listed if you plan to keep the car long term. I only replaced the outer wiper seals on my windows. The inner ones are much harder to source and cost lots more, so dont even bother asking mercedes if you are prone to fainting. I attached the loose parts of the door seals with 3M black trim adhesive and it worked very well. the job is pretty straight forward, my only advice is to not stretch the seals as you go around the edge of the door or you will end up with excessive slack where you finish, and grease them up with silicone spray before inserting them. Start at the top corner of each door where there is a 90 degree bend.
