1987 300sdl//Oil Leak from Shut Off Valve
Thought I had the typical oil leak from the IP seal, but think now it's coming off the Shut Off Valve....
Read a thread mentioning this a couple weeks ago, but now can't find it again. Would this be a simple "washer" or "seal" replacement, or is it more involved than that? Not leaking a lot, but it does work it's way down and start to pool in the engine mount.... Lance- |

It's probably a failed shut off valve diaphragm. You should replace it soon before you suck oil completely thru your vacuum system.

How difficult is changing out the diaphragm? Is there a diaphragm kit out there, or is it the whole assembly R&R?
Thanks. |

Not very familiar with your engine but I think you'll need the whole shutoff valve.

There's an o-ring between the shut-off actuator and the IP.
It common for the control rod sensor socket inboard of the shut-off actuator to leak. That's a leak you'll have to live with because the o-ring is replaced from inside the IP. You can slow the leak by smearing RTV around the base of the socket. Sixto 87 300D |

Fuel filter bolt o ring worked for me
I resealed mine by using the o ring that goes on the fuel filter "bolt". I removed the lever. It fit the shaft perfectly and has not leaked oil in 4 years since I replaced it.
