Texas Registration:

If a car is brought from out of state {California to Texas} what will they inspect. To register in Texas.
If the Trap Oxidizer and EGR has fallen off will that be a problem? Thank you Charlie

As far as I know, diesels are exempt from emissions testing here. And, unless you move to one of the major cities, I don't believe they test anyway.
I had my '81 inspected a couple of months ago. It was a whopping $12 for the safety and it was emissions exempt. They didn't even open the hood.
Coming to the Texas diesel meet?

My friend moved from LA to HOU 3 years ago he didn't have to do anything on his 96 Ford T-bird. Unless you have a Recon. title You might have to do a special safety inspection.

FYI,

South Carolina stopped requiring any type of vehicle inspection several years ago. Strong feeling among legislators that the inspection system was easy to defeat and provided limited protection anyway.

Since then, we have seen no measurable increase in accidents caused by poor vehicle maintenance.

I work in the legislature here and was somewhat concerned about this decision but so far, so good. Government launches many programs that sound good and feel good but lack any factual evidence showing real need or impact.

Charlie, as you probably already know, CA has no emissions testing or requirement for registration.
Personally I think this is wrong, as many diesels have a problem with particulate emisions, but not nitrous stuff, which I guess is more of a problem. Acid rain?
