Well not only did I make it to 250,000 KM I have applied for the High Mileage Award and expect to have the E300TD for the next award.

So even though I have no symptoms I am interested in replacing the subframe bushings, front and rear as well as all 8 of the rear control arms and control arm bushings.

Question???

I have read a number of disparaging remarks about Uro, and Febi rubber parts.

I am thinking of using Meyle or Lemfoerder parts. I believe they are superior manufactures. What is your opinion of them?

I couldn't find a DIY, the job looks reasonably easy and straight forward. The alignment will have to be done by the dealer.

Any tips or cautions?

At 156k mi, your 99 is still in diapers. I'll double you up pretty soon.

M.B.DOC can tell you which bushing for each part was OEM. He'll do it from memory.

The subframes don't look too hard to do, especially the rears. The front control arms require a press and special fittings to get in and out. Easier to buy factory replacement control arms with the 2 bushings already installed unless you have a shop press, etc. You'll need a klann spring compressor too; or a knock off. Backs are much easier.

Even domestic manufactured wrong wheel drive junk manufactured by overpaid hungover UAW workers makes it to 250,000 km as often as not. Now when I see a car past 250,000 miles I start getting impressed.

Regarding your bushings, if you aren't having symptoms, you should probably save your money until you are. My front end didn't need a rebuild until 295,000 miles, and the rear is just now (at 315,000) getting a little hinky.
