82 240D rear window defroster defogger lines THIN!
one of the car's I'm getting rid of, has super thin vertical defroster lines super tight together, like the SD's horizontal lines... nearly invisible. the guy getting the car complained that his window did not have defrosters, and I pointed them out to him.
I've never seen a 123 vehicle with anything but the thick horizontal surface defrosters... was this an option thing or maybe an aftermarket window?

Did the CD's get the fancy defroster wires?

Ive seen the ultra fine defroster lines on a W124 even - but that was in UK, and the car was a E420.

I saw them on a W124 E500 here too.

I have never seen the thin wires on any W123 sedan. I did come across a Euro W123 that did not have the wide defroster wires. thought it strange it didn`t have the defrosters. now it may have had the thin wires and I didn`t notice them.
I guess these wires were laminated in the glass like a W126? Charlie

yup. in the glass.
the guy buying the car was bugged that it didn't have defrosters and wanted me to swap in a window that had them... I now wish I'd just done it! anyway, I noticed the wire strap on either side of the window indicating there were defrosters in the glass, so I looked closer and saw them... totally blew my mind.

Always something new to learn on these cars.
seems the CD has verticle wires, next one I see I`ll check that out. First time I noticed the W126 with the laminated thin wires, I thought that was so cool. now that is class like a MB. Charlie

My 1978 300CD (first M-B I owned) had the thin vertical wires. I remember seeing that and being amazed. My 1990 300E, 1983 240D and 1976 300D have the larger horizontal ones. Can't remember what the 1986 420SEL had.

my dad's LR has vertical thin wires on the front windshield! You'd hardly notice that they were even there. Are these available for the W123's aftermarket?
