ATF Low After Change

I have a 1985 300TD with 224k miles. Yesterday I drained and changed my ATF along with a new tranny gasket & filter. Yes, I drained the torque converter as well. I also replaced the K-1 spring while I was under there. I added just under 7 qts of new ATF... when I go to check the level this morning(on a warm, running engine) it reads low on the dipstick. Any ideas? thanks!

Probably nothing to worry about if there are not tell-tales signs of leaks. I've found that it usually takes a couple of cycles of topping off to get the tranny fluid to stabilize, especially after a drain and refill. BTW, I've also noticed that keeping the level at the low side of the "grid", on the dipstick, gave me more reliable shifting.

Check it when it is fully warmed up. Drive it at least 45 minutes. If you check it when it is just "warm", it will read low, which might cause you to overfill it.
