Right now.almost to half tank with.almost 200 milea so far.
Not looking.like.600.or 500 miles.for that matter. But got lots of running time like Almost 10hrs so far |
Its not looking good right now unless my gauge moves slowly from here to empty.
At.270 miles and still closer to half tank then quarter tank right now.been 9 days now.where my 91 560sel would need a.fill up at 270 miles.also but only 12.54 mpg in that car. |
I ran out! When this 240d's needle says empty, it is!! LOL
I seem to get just under 400/tank in this 1982 240d 4 speed. 28-32mpg seems to be my averages. Hope it jumps up a little in the winter with no AC on. Side note: I'm going up to 205/75r-14 michelins on the 18th(Sale starts Nov 18th 2011). Hope to bring my RPM's down a little. Maybe I can squeeze out a couple more mpg?? :o |
Since.this.car.is new to me my 1st.real tank.full.i got 2.gals.of diesel in my trunk going to fill up when low light comes.on .....if it does work ?light does.come on when turning key on

I mean, increasing the tire size will NOT change your speedometer's setting. so unless you have it calibrated for the larger tire size, indicated speed will still give you previous RPM's. you will be going faster than before however. |
How do we calibrate ?
|
pfft. not worth the expense of having a speedometer calibrated for what 2% DIFFERENCE in speed?
just drive a tad slower indicated speed. |
Borrow a GPS, like a Garmin or Tom Tom. It might actually bring it to a better accuracy than it is now depending on how far off it is now and in which direction.
Hell I have 225/60-15 tires and a transplanted 2.88 center chunk and it puts my 1983 speedo spot on with its readings. (not that I actually TRIED to do it that way). |
My speddo is 4 mph too fast .and odometer is off.
Gps says.28.5 miles odometer reads 29.5 1 mile fast every 29.5.miles thats with.stock 14 in tires i want to run my old.91.560.sel tires on it.so it will be off even more. I just hate leaving my gps in that one car just to keep track off the mileage for mpg purposes |
Well checked it today got. 24 mpg.
Was down to almost.quarter tank it took.14.7 gals miles.was.352 gps Going to 0-30 &60 time it now. Then swap to the 3.69 rear end and check it also. |
0-30 sec. The quickest out of 3runs was 4.29 sec. @ 101 feet.
0-60 was run the same.amount of.times 13.89 sec. @ 755 feet next is the.3.69 rear end swap...just for kicks lol. |
Well no plans.for.the.3.69s.for.now.i just put new shafts in my 3.07.rear on friday

Swapping in a 369? Yikes! You will have a slow drag racer, a 3 liter car with all the road engine noise of a 240d and the fuel economy of a 59 Buick! |
