Mystery Connector

My 1982 MB 300SD is running great...besides the usual issues (non functional odometer, and balky climate control)...gets 27.5 mpg continually, and is a joy to drive! My glow plugs are new and ready for a new winter. My attention this morning is a bit esoteric. I have a unidentified plug / connector against my firewall, close to the master cylinder. Obviously it is altered (see photo / see yellow taped object), but I do not know what it is supposed to look like. Most likely this is a sleeping dog that I should continue to ignore, but...

Any ideas?

Mystery Connection

50+ views and no recommendations! Perhaps I've discovered an issue that has yet to grace the annals of Peach Parts, or too simplistic to be considered worthy of comment! C'mon guys what is it!

it's the connector to the windshield wiper motor; someone must have replaced it and the plastic holder broke
