Intake runner = long gasket that goes between intake and engine. If I recall correctly, you don't need to take the plastic GP rail out. I'll have to take a look at my engine when I go out there in a bit to recall all the bits that need to be taken off. I think there are two brackets holding fuel lines underneath the intake (you just unscrew them), three holding the fuel lines to the last three cylinders on the engine side of the intake, the pressure line to the overboost protection unit on the outside of the intake, and the bracket for the throttle linkage which is not easy to reach, and the large bracket under the fuel lines near the front of the engine. Plus the couple of clips bracing wires along the intake. I'll have to take a look to jog my memory.

The glow plug wires can stay in place for anything less than head removal.

sweet, the arizona haus of parts sells them, $3 ea for the 3 line version and $2.70 ea for the two line version.
I'll take a look later when I change my oil how many of each type there is and check them out in EPC. I'm also guessing that I should be able to unbolt the intake manifold and just move it out of the way to access the glow plugs. Last edited by TheDon; 06-19-2012 at 02:03 PM. |

Just finished my turn at this. Took me like 4 hours! And I only lost one metal mount for the injector lines. No idea where it went. I heard a "clink" and didn't see it on the floor. Darn! I need to order that and all of the clips. Plus a gasket for the intake crossover tube. I thought I had one but I did not. RTV to the rescue!
Glow plugs came out like cake, reamed the holes, and they are good to go. The old plugs were all AUTOLITES!!!!!! So these should last for a long time, buttoned it back up, turned it to glow and viola, glow light! The old name gasket had a crack in it on the intake #2 which was allowing egr goo to leak out. I did scrape out the intake and it was nasty, can't wait to get rid of the egr. Pics soon! GSXR's website was incredibly useful |

I'm looking at tackling this job next weekend.
What is GSXR's website? TheDon, you say it was incredibly useful - what a cliffhanger! |
